Audits

Run a full audit on demand and compare rounds of AI answers over time.

What Is an Audit?

An audit is one round of AI answers about your brand, saved so you can compare it with others. Signal creates two kinds:

  • Daily — Your scheduled runs for a day, gathered into one audit automatically
  • Run Now — An on-demand audit that asks every enabled prompt on every tracked platform at once

Run an Audit Now

Click Run Now on the Overview or Audits page. The button shows how many Run Now audits you have left this month, and while an audit is running it changes to Audit Running with a count of completed runs.

Each plan includes a number of Run Now audits per brand each calendar month (UTC):

PlanRun Now audits per brand each month
Starter1
Growth4
Pro10

Run Now answers count toward your plan's monthly AI answers. The button is unavailable while another audit for the brand is running, once you've used this month's Run Now audits, or when your organization has no AI answers left this month.

Audit History

The Audit History table lists every audit with its date, type, status, number of answers, visibility, brand mentions, and share of voice. An audit's status is Queued, Running, Analyzing (answers are in and being checked for mentions and sentiment), Complete, or Failed.

How far back the history reaches depends on your plan: 90 days on Starter, 365 days on Growth, and unlimited on Pro.

Compare Audits

Once you have at least two audits with answers, Compare Audits shows what changed from an earlier audit to a later one. Pick the two audits to compare, and Signal shows:

  • Headline changes — Visibility, brand mentions, share of voice, and positive and negative mentions, with the change from the earlier audit
  • By Prompt — Each prompt's visibility before and after, labeled Now Mentioned, No Longer Mentioned, Improved, Declined, Unchanged, New Prompt, or Not in Later Audit
  • By Platform — Your visibility on each AI platform before and after
  • Competitors — How many mentions each competitor had before and after
  • Opportunities — Prompts and platforms where a competitor is named and your brand isn't, split into New Gaps, Closed Gaps, and Still Open

A good habit is to run an audit before and after you publish new content or land a placement, then compare the two.
